IS THE NDC SAFE FOR 2024? AN EYE WITNESS ACCOUNT ON NDC VETTING AT KOFORIDUA WEDNESDAY 16TH AUG.2023
I picked on only that Constituency because it is one of the NDC’s strong holds which has lately seen a lot of bashing on the backs of its MP, Joseph Appiah Boateng.
The incumbent on his first attempt did not belong to any branch or obtained a party card but in just 2 months was allowed to contest even with criminal records which the Former General Secretary, Mr. Asiedu Nketia jaws prevy to and made some very genuine claims about this same MP, Joseph Appiah Boateng,Hon. Eric Osei Owusu also contested on similar grounds with no party affliction to branch or bearing a party card.
I come from Kwasi Fante and I can say for a fact that the road from Maame Krobo Junction to Tease which is the constituency‘s District capital and where the incumbent MP resides when he visits the constituency is a death trap and has not pressured the current government enough because he doesn’t speak English and can not express himself in parliament to fight for the needs of the constituency.
Development in the area has been slow and the hardships of the citizenry is very disheartening as many youths are unemployed or peasant farmers.
Most of the teenage girls also get pregnant mostly after Senior High school or can not further their education.
Some communities do not have electricity in this 21st century in Afram plains and the MP does not care or provides for these poor villages.
This background is as a result some 3 young candidates who have filed to contest the incumbent MP , Joseph Appiah BOATENG to rescue the people of Afram Plains from all these hardships.
One of the aspirants I found very interesting to be disqualified was Maxwell Asare Ampadu, the man is a gentleman, he has worked within his few years in the constituency, providing Water for his community, giving life Jackets to fisherfolks, feeding the aged, organizing health screenings for the aged, organized breast cancer screening for our mothers and recently during the final exams of the BECE candidates in the Afram plains South, he fed over one thousand students who wrote the exams.
This I was told was the first of its kind in the constituency.
Mr. Maxwell Asare was seen on Tik-Tok with Lawyer Baba Jamal during the Assin North by-elections which he was part of the observers and worked hard to the core.
He has sacrificed alot to this point and only to be told,he cannot contest because he does not meet the 4 year membership requirement and this is very unheard of such a staunch member of the party who I can testify worked many years closely with Hon. Sherry Hanny Ayittey until her demise and also Hon. E.T Mensah, Former MP for Ningo Prampram, Hon. Antwi Boasiako Sekyere, Former Eastern Regional Minister and a Former Deputy Minister for Employment and Labor Relations, he again worked and under studied Hon. Moses Asaga, the Former MP for Nabdam and the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority and a whole number of some astute politicians.
This great personality and a Communication expert with his experience not compared to the former MP’s of Afram plains and the current MP was “robbed” due to the cunning nature of incumbent MP who paid his way through to run unopposed in the constituency.
The incumbent MP had visited his constituency three (3) times since he was voted in his second term of office and even went on his thank you tour after 3 years of being elected.
What even pained me the more was the fact that the MP doesn’t talk in Parliament to speak about the difficulties the constituency is facing.
It is sad that the Regional Chairman, Mark Oliver Kevor , Mr. Koney, Regional organizer Kabore together with some executives of the Eastern Region were compromised and allowed the incumbent MP to go through vetting unopposed.
As I write this piece , there is no peace in Afram plains and even within some of the executives.
I think the NDC party hierarchy must give ears and eyes to people destroying their party and resolve issues pertaining to the selection of members of parliament.
NDC still produces “uneducated” people in parliament and do not do due diligence to some people who have criminal records and have not been able resolve them.
If the NDC wants to retain the Afram plains South Constituency seat, they must include working and unifier Hon. Maxwell Asare Ampadu who has proved his worth in the constituency and can win if he contests the incumbent MP, Joseph Appiah Boateng who will loose abysmally due to his bad performance in the constituency.
We all know Mr. Asare Maxwell is the reason he paid his way out for the fear that this fine gentleman will run over him if he tries to contest him.
I have also gathered that Eastern regional Chairman of the NDC is allegedly in talk with Hon.Joseph Appiah Boateng to allow him run for his last term and give he, Mark Oliver Kevor the chance to also contest the seat.
Oliver Kevor is a traitor and Eastern region will show him the exit in our next polls.
What I witnessed was very sad and heartbreaking to see a young energetic youth who have sacrificed to give back to his community being ripped off in day light.
The disqualifications especially Mr. Maxwell Asare Ampadu was baseless and had no credibility as I gathered that he had casted his vote in Tease during the 2020 general elections and had his name in the party register in 2018 which the committee could not have access to and provide at the vetting hence his disqualification.
There are precedences and litmus test evidence of some previous aspirants and this should be no exception.
We believe that what is good for the goose is good for the gander he Mr. Maxwell Asare Ampadu must be allowed to contest the incumbent MP to bring peace and development to the people of Afram Plains.
The committee is bogus and must be asked questions of credibility.
The entire vetting committee present must be dissolved and never be allowed to vet any aspirant. They are evil and can not help the NDC because some of them are NPP plots trying to help the NPP win the Afram plains seat if they allow Appiah Boateng to contest.
The NDC can not win power with this attitude in 2024 because their camp is loose and can be compromised by the NPP easily.
I rest my case for now.
