E/R: GEORGE YAW OFORI AFRAM PLAINS SOUTH DCE COMMISSIONED BONKRON TO THE NATIONAL GRID.



The District Chief Executive for the Afram Plains south District Assembly in the Eastern region Honourable George Yaw Ofori popularly called "Adwuma wura" fights darkness at one of the village called Bonkrom thereby connecting them to the national grid with street lights to his beloved people in the village.



Not too long a go Hon. George Ofori (DCE) announced yet another social initiative christened, Operation Brighten Every Corner ( OBEC) to lift up some national installations such as villages, schools, Health facilities etc. within the District.


The District Chief Executive who is popularly hailed by his District as “Adwuma Wura, Messiah,Captain ” has assisted and also tireless use his office through the Government to bring electricity to villages in honour of his fight against darkness in the District.


This, the people’s DCE believed would go a long way to reduce crime, Teenage Pregnancy, poor student performances, the mentality of been in a village and also it is going to help boost business, reduce or eliminate those social vices associated with no light in a community.

Operation Brighten Every Corner ( OBEC) targets a
about thirty-Nine(39) in his District with the national grid and some villages with Solar power system due to their hard means of transportation thereby trying to completely fight darkness.


Operation Brighten Every Corner ( OBEC) starts today, Wednesday day, 5th May, 2021 from Gallon 2 through Trebu and to Gador-Korpe, Gallon 2 to Gavor-korpe or Samankwae, Bompaye to Mafi-Korpe/ Wawase and now Bonkrom enclave as seen the light in their community since a decade.

Torgbui Gadeka in a one- on -one interview with the District Chief Executive (DCE), he said the outcome of this social initiative was by their request to Ministry of Energy in which their appeal was approved for some ten (10) communities in his District.

He added that he is much thankful to God for his protection and mercy granted to him and his team, His party (NPP), the President of Ghana, WILKINS company who was awarded the contract and the ministry of Energy for making this a reality.


He further states that their continues pressing made them victorious in this fight against darkness.



The DCE in the interview made it clear that they are still waiting for the second phase of the project and it will cover more communities such as Somsei, Mmradan, Ata Ayigbe, Forifori to Domeabra and then to Kwablah Kwao, Forifori to Kwame Dwamena, OKyeame kissi, Kyemfre, sakabo to Dim and then to Tailorkorpe and last but not the least to Dome.

They called me
"Semenhyia" at a new title after the ceremony he replied after been asked the emotions of the people after the commisioned of the light at Bonkron.


Meanwhile he hinted that they have already built three(3) unit J.H.S classroom and solar powered water system which is from one million dollar per constituency.



The DCE in his last comment to the interview said, they are also going to engage in massive fider road re-shapping linking to various communities and building of more school blocks in alot of communities in the District.
